Client Quote # 69: past fullness

Hunger and fullness are paired responses. The degree of fullness the body encourages you to honour is a response to the degree of hunger you honour.
If we eat at a desperate, intense hunger level, the body will often respond by pushing us to eat until we are in very extended fullness 🤢This makes sense as you’ve missed multiple windows to eat so the body is making up food intake all in one-go.
Similarly, if we honour a polite hunger, the body may soften to encourage the experience to end at a polite fullness 😌This is of course just talking about the physical. We know our mental satisfaction 💭 also plays a role in these cues.

If someone is worried about always eating past fullness, I would explore:
1. when they tend to honour hunger? ⏰
2. Are they connected to their internal cues at all?
3. Are they enjoying balanced and enjoyable meals 🥬🍔that evoke a sense of fullness and satisfaction or going around blood sugar spikes and crashes all day?
4. Is there a level of mental or physical restriction of food?

Feel free to explore if this is a question you have about your current eating pattern. We’re always so quick to address the fear of “over-eating”, I invite you to explore if there are areas of restriction first.
