Client Quote # 79: feeling best
I recall when a client went camping ποΈ they mentioned how they became more present with enjoyment and connections with people because they were unable to access social media and ways to body check.
This, in turn, really improved their relationship with their body and body image during that time. When our focus shifts away from appearance, all of the sudden it becomes easier to truly appreciate our bodies for what they can do and how they keep us alive day after day π€Έπ»ββοΈ
We begin to notice and find freedom in being ourselves in our bodies in the present, that we can learn to trust and nurture our bodies instead of trying to control it π§π»ββοΈ
It becomes easier to notice what our bodies allow us to do each day - laughing with friends, enjoying a celebration, exploring our hobbiesβ¦we are able to truly live and enjoy the moment.
Letting go of that scrutiny isnβt easy when we are immersed in diet culture.
Finding ways to create distance from these messages- whether through the form of a vacation, a retreat, camping, social media detox etc will help encourage and foster self-acceptance and that feeling our best comes from within π
