Client Quote # 80: 10k
ED often creates rigidity with exercise in the mask of health and fitness 🤼♂️
It creates an unforgiving, guilt-tripping need to “burn calories” in order to earn food and that this is what “being healthy” (or worthy) is supposed to look like. It ignores the need for flexibility when it comes to rest, illnesses, and injuries 🤕
The thoughts are insidious- tracking 10k steps while on a vacation seems innocent enough at first until it turns a perfectly carefree vacation to one that is preoccupied by numbers and rules 📑 This is a reminder that part of ED recovery is challenging rigidity with exercise 🏃🏻♀️
We reframe exercise as joyful movements that take in considerations of your body’s needs and preferences🏌🏻
Movement helps us experience the present moment, build skills, connect socially, recharge our energy, improve sleep quality, build confidence and so much more 🔋
In ED recovery we learn to acknowledge that moving our bodies is not a way to earn food, but an embodiment of being alive 🤸🏻♀️
