Client Quote #44: bigger

The fear is real, despite the progress made. A few seconds of negative self-talk feels like it could make or break recovery- and this person has decided to not let it unravel all the hard work put into their journey.

When we’re in the depths of an ED, we are thrown into this cycle of negative self-talk and extreme criticisms towards our bodies. We know the journey to recovery is not linear and there will be “okay” and bad days, and those bad days can feel devastating. However, the bad days are often also the reason why folks decided to begin their recovery. Why, despite the fears, have you chosen recovery? Is it because you wanted to gain your period back or sleep soundly again? Is it because you wanted to achieve food neutrality or build a peaceful relationship with your body? Is it because you wanted to have more energy to spend with your loved ones or engage in your passions? There are a vast number of reasons as to why you chose to challenge your ED. So when you can, gently remind yourself of your reasons for embarking on this journey.
